Steven Stone is General Counsel to Farr, Miller & Washington.
Steven has more than 20 years’ experience advising publicly traded, privately held and non-profit organizations as well as individuals and families on a wide range of legal matters.
From 1995 to 2002, Steven was one of the primary attorneys for The Ackerley Group, a publicly traded media and entertainment company. He served as lead counsel for many of its transactions, including acquisitions of television and radio stations, and played a key role in its sale of the Seattle SuperSonics and its merger with Clear Channel Communications. In addition to his role as General Counsel to Farr, Miller & Washington, Steven is a partner in Rubin, Winston, Diercks, Harris & Cooke, LLP, a law firm with which he has been affiliated since 1986
A native of New York, NY, Steven came to Washington to study American literature and foreign languages (he is fluent in French) at the George Washington University, and received his law degree from the Catholic University of America, where he served as an editor of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law & Policy.
Steven is very interested in and supports a number of charitable causes, in particular those addressing climate change, endangered species and animal welfare. He currently serves on the boards of the Washington Humane Society, the Climate Law & Policy Project (Chairman) and the Clyfford Foundation, and is a past board member and vice president of the Academy of Hope. He lives in Washington DC and New York City.
